I’m using an HDFX4K tuner and on stations broadcasting in 1080i MPEG2, only a single field is being displayed, resulting in stairstepped edges and poor motion. 720P broadcasts are fine, as there is no interlacing. I’m seeing this on Apple TV 4K (original) as well as the latest 4K model, all with latest software updates. This occurs on live TV as well as recordings. I’m using the newest HDHomerun firmware, but this has persisted for some time now, through a few firmware updates. The HDHomerun tuner app plays 1080i stations correctly. I can A/B test the Channels app and HDHomerun app on the same TV and same broadcast and the missing field on channels is evident. Any ideas?
Check Settings > Playback > Advanced > Deinterlacing
That worked, thanks. Not sure how deinterlacing got turned on.
