Channels DVR is Good but needs the following:

1. Hardware backed encoding

2. UPNP Support

3. A windows client

4. API for the server, for building apps for unsupported platforms

5. Direct Streaming on local network for supported devices and browsers.

• Hardware backed encoding

We support hardware transcoding on a variety of platforms and devices, as long as you have the correct drivers installed.

• UPNP Support

The DVR advertises itself as a bonjour/zeroconf service.

• A windows client

We’re focused on clients for TV streaming platforms at the moment. More clients are possible in the future, but we don’t have the resources to develop clients for every single platform.

• API for the server, for building apps for unsupported platforms

There is no public API, but you could use the browser’s dev tools to see how the private api works. It’s quite easy to integrate with.

All our native clients use direct streaming.
