A *NEW* multi-user type request, better than all the rest

I would like a 'per device' auth system. For example, in channels 'add a named device' which lets you name a device and gives you an auth code 'ABCDEF'.

Go to device, open channels and it asks for code. Enter 'ABCDEF'. Device is live but....

When this system is enabled:
watched status is per device.
DVR schedules is per device (shared on the back end but filtered for the device). ie, device can only see the schedules it has created. If it creates a new schedule that matches an existing, then add it. If it deletes a schedule that is used by another, just remove it's view of that.

Device deletes a recording, only deletes it's view of that. Leave the recording for others.

This is to solve problems that keep me on Plex. Shared watch status SUCKS. It alone keeps me from using Channels. I need to be able to delete to conserve disk space, but having that on and having other family members delete things that I haven't seen SUCKS. again, a reason I have to keep on plex.
The shared DVR is also a thing on Plex, it annoys me there as well. One up plex with this feature.

Thanks for the read. I really like the look and feel and speed of Channels but it just doesn't work for my house with extended family.

Very good points.

I must say that the lack of some type of user profiles is also one reason Channels is not used in my family as a client. I only use it as a recorder, and our viewing is done on PLEX.

Combine server side settings and channel collections? I use Plex too but just a thought.
edit...It is more of a recordings issue and not channel watching.

for me it's kind of all or nothing. an individual 'user' or rather endpoint needs it's own DVR list and own watched status and things like deletes of DVR data can't affect others. Just one of these things doesn't make it functional.
