I wrote a script to pull station ids from Channels to help match my m3u's with guide data. I noticed that for my ATSC 3.0 channels (ABC-NG for example), has the same station id as ABC-HD (and it matches with Schedules Direct).

Are / will ATSC 3.0 stations be handled differently or are ATSC 3.0 station ids the same as ATSC 1.0? I know FOODHD and FOOD have different station ids but are the same channel. Just curious if anyone knows about ATSC 3.0 station ids.

I think Channels determines HD vs SD via the guide data. If that's true, how will Channels determine NG if the station id is the same as HD?

I know that currently Channels DVR uses the HD tag from the HDHR tuner to determine HD vs SD channels. "HD": 1, means it's HD. Not sure how that will work with 4K.
Not sure what NG is, NextGen?

I don't expect new station IDs. The IDs are mapped to station call signs and the call signs are not changing, just being shuffled between broadcast towers.
