A receiver seems overkill

So I was thinking of replacing my TV and Apple TV with 4K. I guess I would need a new receiver too, but since everything goes through the apple TV now, why do i need all those other HDMI inputs and radio? does anyone just make a 7.1 AMP with a single pre-amp input? I would think that I should be able to get better Audio for the same money, but everything has multiple inputs, Pandora and smartphone apps. I wouldn’t even think of using any of that. Am I all alone on this? I haven’t used my Blue-Ray, FM radio or Game Console in years.

I’m hoping around next year we’ll see TVs with HDMI2.1, and the eARC on those will support lossless audio. From there we should be able to just go to one input on the receiver for the lossless audio coming from the TV. But I think that’s maybe 5 years away when we’ll see receivers with just one input, if at all.

But I do have my ATV4K hooked up, my Switch, my PlayStation, my Xbox, and a Shield to the receiver. That’s nice because my TV only has 3 inputs.
