One represents server software to record to your QNAP. This is not free and requires a monthly or yearly subscription to channels dvr server.

Install Channels DVR Beta represents the beta version of the app you are using on your Google TV.

You would need to install the Channels DVR Server on your QNAP in order to stream recordings from your home. Also would need to open port 8089 for the channels app to access it.

In a browser you can use. http://my.channelsdvr.net/ and when you login it can figure out what your ip is and will point to your server as long as you have the 8089 port open correctly in your firewall.

1, I am a subscriber.!
2. I have installed the Channels DVR Server on your QNAP in order to stream recordings from my home. I’d like to know ver. I should have on the QNAP.?
3. I also noticed PIP works on my FIRE Cube app. BUT, not on the Chrome TV device. Is there a fix.?
4. What about a channels app for installing on Samsung TV’s.?

Thanks again, I’m sure to ask more questions.. Is there away anyone of you guy’s able to assist on a TeamViewer session.?

It automatically installs the latest stable version of the dvr server software. To enable remote access open a web browser on any device on the same network as the qnap.in the address bar go to http://qnap.ip.address:8089/
It may say unsecured blah blah just choose to go there anyway. That will take you to the server web ui. Click settings and scroll down to remote choose enable and auto. if that doesn’t work choose manual and port forward port 8089 on your router

That is to install the server on the google device. You don’t want to do that it’s on your qnap

The beta has some extra features that may or may not have some bugs in it. I personally use the beta but is up to you and has nothing to do with remote ability

This is Google's fault as they have not enabled PIP on CCWGTV and you cannot enable it even with Developer options. I know, it makes no sense. If you get a different Android TV device like the TiVO Stream 4K+ (or as you have seen with your Fire Cube), you can use PIP. That said, I've found it to be rather glitchy and often the window gets "stuck" and you cannot get rid of it, but others have no issues, so YMMV.

This has been my experience on Shield. Ive gotten PiP stuck. And unable to select or close it with shield remote or U1 remote.
