Access Channels DVR recordings with Channels app after subscription expires?

I was talking to a friend about Channels DVR and couldn't answer this question.

If he subscribes to Channels DVR and later decides to non-renew/cancel, can he still access his recordings with a Channels app?

I know the Whole Home DVR app only works if you have a current subscription, but can the Channels HDHomeRun app access them without a sub?

I assume the answer is NO, but told him I would ask.

I already told him he could play the recorded files with other software.

Correct, the DVR server would stop working once the subscription expires. Then the app wouldn't be able to connect.

The other paid app only targets HDHR. It can connect to DVRs but not an expired DVR with no subscription.
