Accessing Channels DVR Remotely when Channels Server is Connected to VPN

Hello All,

I’m having an issue connecting to my Channels DVR remotely. My Channels Server, iMac, is connected to my VPN, PIA (Private Internet Access). I have port forwarding for port 8089 to the iMac. Troubleshooting states that the DVR is pointed at the ip given by the VPN for the iMac, but that the current ip for the system is the external ip for the router. Any thoughts?

Based on prior threads it has been stated to bypass the vpn with the split tunneling feature of the vpn. However, what application do I request to have bypassed on my iMac since there is no Channels DVR application only the installer?

Thank you in advance!

The application to whitelist is:

~/Library/Application Support/ChannelsDVR/latest/channels-dvr

Thank you! I’ll give it a go.

Thank you for the path! Working perfectly fine now.

How were you able to add the app to PIA's split-tunnel whitelist? I'm on a Mac and the only way to add apps to the whitelist in PIA is through the UI, and I'm unable to select it. Thanks in advance if you can assist!

Thats the easy part, you just add the Library as a shortcut in the sidebar in Finder then it will be available to navigate to. However the file type in the path is not available for PIA to add. I think it specifically looks for app kind

Thanks for getting back! But, hmm. I can navigate to it just fine without a shortcut, but you're right. It's looking for the application filetype and as channels-dvr is a Unix Executable on the Mac, I simply can't add it. I've been digging around in the package contents and Application Support files for PIA and haven't been able to locate where the application paths are stored in the app file structure, either.
