title says it all. wife Loves, what I call "the Alarming news, with david muir... its ok, but, Channels has trouble with ad skipping on this ONE show! haha, I can't belive it... been a user for a long time, just noticed a thread where you all were very kind to a new user, getting her recordings going. so, I 'record' everything I wanna watch, let the ads skip, all if Fine... Except, ABC news.. any suggetions? thanks
The commercial indexer is not 100% and does better on some channels and content than others. Nightly news tends to be hit or miss the way they engineer their productions. They're missing fade outs and specific transitions that actual shows have.
We don't have a way to fine tune for specific shows, so what you see is what you get.
I know it's not the answer you wanted, but you do have the ability to correct the commercial indexing with the commercial editor. You can do this in the web admin or via the iOS app. Find the show, and choose Commercial Editor and select the segments of the show that are NOT commercial breaks and choose Save.

Yep, just find the show and use Show Options to turn off Detect Commercials.
ok, so, I'm gonna try hard to stay with this.... now, I have, 3 channels programs. 1. on my shield, with programing, where I record and watch everything. 2, on the shield, a program I have to run sometimes after a RE-boot, all it says is 'Start DVR" enable... something like that.... 3. ... where I am Searching right now, on my pc, this is " http://127.0.0.1:8089/admin/settings" on my pc. this is one place I get Confused. so, my shield is on 192.168.0.100... do we have Names, for each of these 3 programs? and, which one will I use, to "show options to turn off detect commercials? thanks so much
It sounds like you’re over complicating this.
Just find the show in your library that you want to turn commercial indexing off. Use the app or the web admin.
Then choose Show Options to reveal settings for that particular show. Turn Commercial Detection off.

This is the Channels client app.
That is the Channels DVR server app. That's the DVR engine which does recording and manages your videos.
127.0.0.1 mean "this computer". It looks like you have a second Channels DVR installed, so there are recordings and passes on both your SHIELD and your PC.

DO I EVEN NEED CHANNELS ON MY PC? I think, previous, I saved recording on it, but, now, pretty sure, recordings are on USB drive on the Shield. thanks
Then you should uninstall from the PC, using the installer on our website.
Then on your PC you can use http://192.168.68.100:8089 to manage the SHIELD DVR from the browser

In the regular Channels app where you watch, go into a show, click More, select "Show Options" and you will see the commercial detection setting
