I know using the P key can used to put channels into picture in picture mode..
Is it possible to add this functionality to the quick guide drop down for those who don't have a programmable remote? Seems a logical place if it is possible.
Thanks

I like that idea. It's the only main function missing when using the ts4k remote.
is there a way to get back to what you were watching other than go to it in the guide and click?
Nope. You have to choose something else to watch, live or recorded. If you choose the channel currently playing to get back to full screen video, you have click twice. as the first click pauses the live show, the second click un-pauses.
yep, i've noticed that. was hoping there was something i was missing...
in the alternative (of adding it to the quick guide), would be cool if the devs could add a way to just get back to what is currently playing without having to find it in the guide and then click it twice.
It's been a long time since I messed with shortcuts once I got them working, but if I remember correctly (and I may not be) there is a "window key" that would bring the pip back full screen. This is from memory and I didn't figure it out.
I believe KEYCODE_WINDOW is the one you're thinking of. I don't think that can be sent from a remote or keyboard. I think you need to use a flirc or the button mapper program with the adb command. I'm just going on what I've read here so Anyone with real knowledge please chime in.
I have an Nvidia shield. I can maximize the window if I hit the home button on the remote to get back to the androidtv home screen (the channels tuned program is still on the screen)... there is a banner near the top with the program information... click open... then click full screen.
If this is not what you are talking about..ignore me
is there a way to get this to work on the chromecast google tv? it works on my tivo stream 4k but not on the CC...pressing the p key for chromecast does nothing.
Is there a way for those of us without that kind of remote to be able to send the āPā key from our iPhones instead? Via iOS shortcut or automation or Siri command or from the iOS Channels app itself?
There is an Android TV app that allows you to send arbitrary keyboard presses to the device. Using it to send "P" works for the TS4K, but not for the CCGTV.
so there's no way to make PIP work on the chromecast?
I haven't found it. (Although to be honest, I haven't looked terribly hard.)
@tmm1 @maddox can you guys comment on this? is PIP possible on the CC GTV (the p key doesn't seem to work like it does on the tivo)...
If it doesn't work it is because Google probably removed that from the OS. Could be something in Android 11, or something specific to the CCGTV
thanks for the quick reply, as always. i'll mess around and see what i can find.
setting is definitely enabled (the settings page for PIP is hidden but you can get to it with adb)...but it just does not work. must be a bug in android. i'll report it to google and see what they say...
Last night when I couldn't get my Harmony hub remote to map the "p" correctly I was thinking that it would be nice if that when you pushed the back button in fullscreen, that it would go to pip rather than just the guide and a second push of the back button would remove the pip. Now that I have the "p" mapped with the remote I guess it doesn't matter to me now but even still I think it would be a good idea.
check out this comment on reddit. seems it can work on cc but there's a need for a workaround. google has disabled it natively for some reason...
