Adding .mov extension for local movie trailers

Please can .mov extension be added to the list of formats for local movie trailers?

Any local movie trailers I have saved in .mov format will not show up on the Fire TV or Apple TV Channels DVR app menu. The .mov filetype seems to be quite common when using TMM to identify & download local trailers for the movies i have recorded.

Thanks.

Ok

Was the .mov format ever added into channels dvr server?

This would be ideal for trailers

What does OK mean in this context?

Yes it was added

Yes, quite a few of my local (and Stream File) trailers have the .mov extension. They play fine in Channels.

I got it working and created "Trailermania Channel as well as a Channel collection:

I am using the docker version so before anyone asks: My mistake was the following

Example: Synology

/CinemaTrailers ( This is the directory that contains my trailers scraped from a python script
It points to mount /trailers for Channels Docker

The mistake I was making was NOT adding 2 other dummy folders with CinemaTrailers

Once I did this, it scraped. It will not scrape 1 folder i guess even though the other 2 are empty

Once i did this it scraped 112 , I delete the trailers every 3 months as they take up space of course.

If new trailers are added will it be scraped automatically going forward in theory? Indeed, they are all

.mov files. Thanks for the clarification. Using latest beta with TVE docker.

Cool! Where are you scraping from?

apple trailers only, I made a mistake the one i use for local movies in conjunction with radarr use multiple sources. the one for coming soon or Cinema Trailers is just from apple.

task scheduler code (Synology DSM)
cd /volume1/homes/user/scripts/atd
python3 download_trailers.py

Hree is the script I user, It set it in task sceduler i think daily at 4am. It pulls anything new.

This Channels DVR is going to make me rethink my entire approach to watching television. I will stick with a zidoo box for 3d movies, 4k, dolby vision, although i did find it suprising that channels supports HDR at least on some content in my tv shows library. As far as a backend server it is amazing for DVR. Would love to see some gui enchancement in the future as I am spoiled by tivimate, but Channels honestly plays IPTV better than tivimate in my opinion and certainly records better particularly from TVE which is nothing to do with tivimate. I can realistically see myself dumping tivo cable card access with spectrum within 30-60 days. I might keep the ota boxes for a back up. I am so heavily invested in tivo and my wife love it hands down. Channels is going to be a steep curve for her, but due to rising costs with cable a required one i believe.

I am glad to contribute anything i can , and I am within my 30 day trial on Channels DVR. Its been an exciting few days though for sure.
