ADTH Gen2

Looks like we finally have a gateway device for DRM'd ATSC 3.0 channels. Any plans for Channels to support it?

Did you read anywhere saying it was a gateway device? Zapperbox is the only device that seems to advertise as a DRM capable gateway device and it is currently only between its own hardware

I believe Lon did a video on this device. It did play DRM channels. However in order to add the DVR feature he had to hook the box up to the internet and enroll into the beta program. In otherwards the device is still not finished as far as features and a play on words for something that is still not true yet.

And a gateway device doesn't have an HDMI output

It's not a gateway device. This page that you've linked is nearly a year old.

Too bad consumers can't actually purchase the product. Maybe next year?

One tuner too, I bet, since I see nothing there touting otherwise.

Lon.tv on YouTube is a good place to keep up on the train wreck that "Nextgen TV" has become. That link is to the specific playlist he has for the 3.0 action.

About the internet connection chatter... I could've sworn that part of the ATSC spec was that it did have a channel in all that bandwidth to get 0s and 1s from the internet without a traditional ISP connection. Pretty good bet it's not running anywhere yet, but it makes me wonder what the plans were. I assumed it was going to be used for guide data and stuff like that, but then the DRM debacle hit a few years ago, and we all know where this has headed since then.

And yes, I'm still convinced OTA television is nearing an end, you'll get all of this content via streaming in 5-10 years. Sports will be the first to leave the free air waves completely because of the money.

Hell, Nextgen TV might even be a plot to put the network OTA affiliates out of business as we now know it, to hasten the process for the greedy media cartels. Anything is possible from corporate America these days.

god I hope not. I'm hoping HDHR will somehow be able to get a product that will decode DRM and be able to be used with Channels DVR.
