All Channels excludes HD

When I list All Channels (IOS or ATV), the list doesn’t include HD channels. Looks like a bug to me.

Other than that, the app is super. Along with my HDHomeRun Prime, it’s changed the way I use and experience my TVs.

Query: Should I update my Prime to 20161019beta1? The “beta” tag doesn’t inspire confidence, but if others have solid experience I’d like to know. And any comments as to bugs squashed, features added, etc. would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes you need to upgrade to the latest firmware and re-scan for channels to be able to detect HD channels. I assume you are on Comcast and many of your channels have switched over to mpeg4.

Thank you. I did, and was able to detect a few more HD channels.

However, the behavior I noted has not changed (at least for IOS, running 1.3.1, which I have access to now, but I have observed this on ATV also). Let me try to be clearer.

When I select HD Channels from the drop-down menu, I see only HD channels; when I select SD Channels, I see only SD channels. So far so good. But when I select All Channels, I do not see all channels–I see SD channels, and no HD channels.

Huh that’s strange. I just tried and see everything. The HD channels are at the bottom of the list.

Strange indeed. But I have reproduced the behavior on both my iPhone 6 (10.1.1) and my Apple TV 4 (10.0.1). I deleted the app on my iPhone, then re-downloaded and installed it, and saw no change. (Yes, I’ve scrolled to the bottom, and everywhere else.) I am using Channels 1.3.1 and HDHomeRun Prime 20161019beta1 (with cable card). My provider is Comcast, and I live in zip 98040, Mercer Island, King County, WA.

There are 4 exceptions: HD channels 115 KBTCDT2HD, 683 HSNHD, 695 DESTD, & 702 HCHD do show up in the “All Channels” guide. They show up, not at the bottom, but in line, in numerical order. (And they show up in the “HD Channels” list, and not in the “SD Channels” list.)

There are two other unrelated small issues I will note here:

  1. My channel 726 KUNSDT (HD) doesn’t show up in the guide–nor do channels 732 KUNS, 738 KUNSDT2, & 748 KCTSDT2 (all SD). But maybe this is a feature, as KUNSDT, KUNS, and KCTS are also carried by lower channels, so these appear to be duplicates.

  2. The guide incorrectly identifies channel 322 KCCTVHD as KCTV. I submitted a report to SiliconDust.

You have just a single HDHomeRun?

Can you visit http://x.x.x.x/lineup.json?tuning on your hdhomerun and send us the results to [email protected]

Yes, I have a single HDHomeRun. I just emailed you the page HDHomeRun Lineup.

Don’t see anything out of the ordinary in the channel lineup you sent over.

For the channels not showing up at all, can you check the Settings tab and make sure you don’t have them marked as hidden?

I checked, and everything is enabled. I tried toggling the 4 channels, but no change.

As an experiment, I set 726 as a favorite; it then shows up in the “Favorites” guide.

FWIW, I can run SiliconDust’s hdhomerun_view on my Mac and all channels are accessible.

So the channels all show up on the Settings tab, but not the Guide tab or the On Now tab?

Ok I found the bug. Thanks for your patience answering all the questions, it really helped narrow things down.

Correct.

You are welcome.

A new version has been released to the App Store with a fix for this bug.
