Submitted logs however when I scroll the guide fast like I’m trying to get to a high number channel from the bottom the app will crash. Also I’m experiencing a high number of errors which say tuner network problems and then the tuner will either stop and buffer or completely close out of the channel. This has been going on for a few months now and I don’t think it’s anything related to my network. It’s almost to the point where it’s unusable. Any insight would be helpful I’m close to the point where I’m going to have to abandon the setup.
Yes, even using the latest beta I can duplicate this problem on my Firestick Max devices. This seems to be worst of several bugs in the guide making it almost completely unusable. The developers seem to struggle with the guide on Android/FireTV. I mostly avoid using the guide. Since I won't switch to an Apple TV device, I put up with the minor bugs. Hopefully the developers will be able to fix this latest problem.
Same guide issue using a TiVo Stream 4K. It is unusable on the Android client. So many times I've heard my wife complain about it when she tried to look up something in the guide.
I agree with @Michael_Birk.
Things like this is why I made a docker remote for Channels. I use my tablet or phone to navigate my content and play from my remote. My wife loves it. She can find the movies and tv shows for the grand babies fast and easy.
OK, now you have my attention!
I will give it a try this weekend!
The crashing on scroll problem has been going on forever. Also if you scroll too fast the guide times are completely off, when you click on a show it's like 3 or 4 hours different than what it shows in the guide.
Pretty much given up hope that the Android client guide will ever be fixed.
This is a new problem for me it’s never been like this until maybe a week or two ago.
I just noticed this in the past month.
Yea, we're the red-headed stepchild in this world. I stick to Channels DVR only for what it does best, bulletproof recording and the only app I've found that rivals the Win7 Media Center for timeshifting.
When I say "timeshifting", it differs from recording to me because I pause/rewind/FF so much when I watch sports, it seems this app is the only one that can keep up.
There is hope...

Yes, this update has fixed the latest guide problem for me.
Downloaded latest beta, brought up the guide, quickly tried to scroll right (swipe left on my Android 15 phone) and it immediately crashed. It's not very easy to replicate however. Also, the time problem is still not fixed. For some shows the start time in the guide is not the time you see when you click on a show (last I saw it was off by 30 minutes). This only happens if you quickly swipe left, and I'm not sure if it's all shows or not. Also if you swipe left fast enough, the guide doesn't update. You have to swipe right to go back in time to see the refreshed guide.
Submitted client diagnostics.
This really wouldn't be an issue if we didn't have to constantly swipe left and right instead of being able to choose a clickable date and time at the top of the guide. Been requested multiple times. The lack of being able to easily skip forward/back a day at a time is also a pain in the butt.
The guide has always been an afterthought imo, and it applies to all clients.
Mine fixed too.
The scrolling vertically and horizontally issue has been forever for me too, vertical appears to be fixed. That was quick!
On the other hand, on my Shield Pro scrolling horizontally crashes 50% of the time within a few seconds much of the time. This is scrolling really fast though, if I slow it down and tap it an hour at a time it seems fine.
So, if I want to jump ahead several days in a hurry, I just avoid the Shield and head to my PC.
Yes that's right, scrolling fast on a phone will also crash it occasionally.
I bet none of this would be an issue if the device makers actually put a decent amount of ram in these things. 2-3gb seems to be the norm.
Pitiful.
Installed the latest beta with horizontal scrolling change. Using my Firestick Max devices, the guide no longer locks up when fast scrolling horizontally. Also, I think the times are stays accurate. It is very slow scrolling once you get a few hours into the future. The guide doesn't preload unless you scroll, but it is the best I have ever seen it perform. I suppose memory limitations prevent the guide from fully loading during startup.
If you scroll forward too quickly on a phone, it crashes.
It's not a memory issue, I have a One+12R and it has plenty of memory (8GB total, less than 4GB used).
Look, we can talk about all these Band-Aids but the problem with the guide is the same. If you don't provide an easy way to skip forward/back a day and go to a specific date/time it's mostly useless. Scrolling through the guide is an exercise in I don't care what the user wants, we're just providing the minimum because we don't care about it and nor should you.
Every other DVR offers this, but the folks that run channels don't care. Just like manual recordings...
