I love channels dvr. Just saying. I was a long time mythtv user and prefer channels, My interest is when I have multiple sources (the amount of channels). Thank you for coming up with a way to add Pluto by the way. But for some reason using my phone, when backing out of a channel in the 9000 range the guide restarts at the 1st channel. My fire tvs dont do that. I've been looking for a setting but it's not there. Any way to resolve that. Usually I use my phone remotely like at work. So no other option.
TRY THIS SOLUTION
I went in developer options to get my setting cofigured again, the back button stopped functioning again. There is a setting in developer options that needs to stay off. "Don't keep activies". When I turned if off, the back button became funtional leaving the focused channel on the guide.
I wish I could do that
But I have no developer option on my phone. I just installed beta to see if it had it. So far no luck. Unless it it hidden.

If you go into Settings > About on the Android device, if you go down to Build Number or similar, keep tapping/clicking OK on the build number, you will enable developer options.
