I'm looking to buy a projector to watch tv outside on my house or white fence. I'm looking at this projector or something similar. Will the channels app work on this? It says it runs android tv 9.0. I'm not familiar with android but I wanted an "all in one" device with not having to plug in my apple tv or a fire tv.
That looks like a stock Android TV interface—as opposed to cheap knock-offs which are running the regular Android with their own launcher—so Channels ought to work fine.
Yes it will work, but it will likely be laggy. And others have reported the hardware decoder can crash randomly and reboot the device.
FWIW I have this same projector I use outdoors sometimes and I ended up plugging an Apple TV into it.
Mabye look into the Benq GS50 instead.
Do you plug the apple tv into the projector or have a separate extension cord running to power everything?
Will it be laggy because of Android or wifi connectivity? Would the Benq likely have these issues too?
The android interface is laggy, because the cpu is slow.
I had to run a power cord for the Apple TV. Not ideal at all.
