Any difference between 'rescan all' and individual channel rescan?

Really just a curiosity question. In terms of re-authing, or anything like that, is there any difference, or is it literarily that one rescans all channels and the other just rescans a single channel?

Not really, but there are particular situations where "Rescan All" is not a good idea. Particularly, users on Spectrum often run into issues with too many authentications in a short period of time, and causes account lock outs or failures.

Unless you have made major changes to your account, for small updates or troubleshooting, I'd recommend using the individual rescan options, coupled with the choice to scan for new channels to expose streams that were previously not supported/available.

My secret motivation is to try and automate most of the steps following a password change for TVE, which Xfinity seems to require all too often.

The Channels DVR web UI now allows you to update your TVE password for stored credentials (whereas before a crazy JSON PATCH payload was required). Couple that with Channels ability—and default behavior—to re-authenticate when necessary, and this should take care of those issues.

Knock on wood. I have Xfinity and haven’t had to re-enter my password since Channels started offering TVE. It’s been rock solid aside from the occasional TVE issue where the stream cuts out and you have to select the channel again.

Not needed since Xfinity seems to allow reusing of passwords. But do need to force rescan to get reauth to happen immediately.

Pretty much every 3 weeks for me. No idea why.
