Went in to the web UI and was looking at channels I had set as favorite to correct the recording issues outlined in my other thread. My Flex 4k tuner indicates I have 162 channels available, 90% I have no interest in. Is there any reason to go in and ban the bulk of them? Does it put much strain on the system to have those available? Noticed a few in the 5000 range that are radio stations, I favorited one or two to see what I get if I tune in.
Just disable them in the HDHR Web Page then Channels will not even look at them.

The 5000 range are fringe stations that cant be identified by the hdhr. Update your firmware and they will disappear
Not necessarily. However, they can usually be ignored as they are often test stations, or too weak for the embedded channel name/number data to be read.
You can safely disable any channel you don't care about ever tuning. (And disabling them will make your guide shorter and look more presentable.) However, whether it is in the list or not has no bearing on the performance of Channels. Just like extra names in your phone's contact list does not impede the performance of your phone, so too are the extra channels in your lineup.
The beauty of Channels is the flexibility to customize your lineups.
Totally get rid of the trash you don’t want. You have the freedom.
