App can’t reach server remotely

I’m trying to beef up the security on my Synology NAS a little so I enabled the firewall on it. I still have port 8089 forwarded to the NAS (which hosts Channels) and have allowed that port through the firewall. I can connect to the admin page just fine using Safari on my iPhone with my DDNS address and port 8089 so I know the traffic is flowing properly but I can’t get the app to find the DVR server when I’m off WiFi on the phone. I even turned the firewall off and it doesn’t work so is there an issue with external access specifically through the app today? Thanks.

Further info: I’m getting this error on Troubleshooting: “XXX.channelsdvr.net is pointed at [old external IP] but the current IP for this system is [new external IP]”. So why is that and how do I get it pointed to the right place?

Okay I stopped the Channels service and started it back and I’m getting further now. The Troubleshooting steps all pass now and Instead of telling me in the browser that it can’t find the DVR it gives me an “authorize access” button in the browser but when I click it and it returns to the app the app still can’t connect. It says “DVR access failure.”

Well it suddenly started working and I did nothing different. I’m assuming it was some sort of outage on the Channels side of things. Oh well seems to be working now so never mind all this rambling in here.
