App deleting watched shows

I have the default for the system set to Keep: All and my watched shows are automatically deleted. I do not want shows automatically deleted when they are watched. Makes it difficult for others to watch the same show at a different time.

I also checked the individual shows to see if they were set to Keep:All and they were.

For now, I do not want automatic deletion.

There is no automatic deletion. Check the DVR web UI Log tab to see what’s being deleted and why.

They weren’t deleted, the watched episodes get buried and it’s not intuitive to find them. When you back out of the show episode window when that episode is marked watched and there are no other unwatched episodes then the show icon disappears. You have to go to search to find the watched episodes.

My suggestion is to:

  1. Mark the watched shows in the icon/tile view with either a symbol or a colored border that would visually show that the show was watched but not deleted, and
  2. Have a toggle on the recordings tab to turn on/off watched shows.

I realize that most people may only watch a show once but there are a lot of us that like to rewatch shows and don’t want to rely on streaming. Plus, I rather have a copy of the show on my NAS. I still buy CDs and Blu-rays because purchasing a shows/movies as streaming media is not ownership, you’re buying a license and there’s a decent chance the owner will yank the movie/show from your streaming platform. Warner Brothers is especially bad about this.

I’m not sure what app client/device you’re using, nor what section or view of the app you’re referring to.

Yesterday I was using ATV. All of this was occurring on the Recordings tab. If there are no unwatched episodes the show icon disappears. To the casual user it appears that the watched show is deleted.

Right now I’m on a PC and using the Web UI because it’s easier to navigate. The same applies. If there are no unwatched shows then the show icon disappears. You then need to go to the search tab to find the watched shows unless there’s an easier way.

It’s on the Recordings tab where I would like to see the changes. If there are only watched shows it would be nice to see the show icon with some designation to indicate that there are only watched shows. Or conversely display all the show icons and put NEW or a star on the ones that have unwatched episodes.

On the Recordings tab there are multiple sections: Up Next, Recently Recorded, etc

Up Next shows the next unwatched episode for each of your shows.

Recently Recorded lists all your shows sorted by when they were recorded.

Once you watch an episode it won’t show up in Up Next anymore. But you can still click into that show from Recently Recorded to view all the episodes.

Thanks, I finally figured that out.

I already have a ton of recordings. A list view would be great.
