Apple TV Connects to DVR but no Channels/Tuner?

Morning - setting up for the first time, i have a HDHomerun connected to a PC (via network port) and the Channels DVR service running/playing TV on the PC.

My Apple Tv connects to Channels DVR when i type in the IP and i assumed that would then pull in the guide/stream from the service running on the PC - the guide and all channels are empty though?

I also cannot find the tuner via the app - even when typing in the IP from the HomeRun HD settings, all on the same network via BT Home Hub/Extenders setup.

So kind of confused, assumed i would set up the Channels DVR service and that would be good to go, cant work out why the Apple TV is asking for a tuner?

Any help would be great as a bit frustrated at the moment by it all and just subscribed,

Thanks a lot,

Andy

Do you have a router and/or switch on your network? If so, connect your HDHomeRun to your router or switch. It’s probably not getting a proper IP address assigned to it. Your router will use its DHCP to assign the IP address. There are ways to use your PC as a DHCP but I’m doubting you have it set up that way.

I confused by what you say you're doing. You write " i have a HDHomerun connected to a PC (via network port)." Does that mean exactly what you wrote: That the HDHomeRun network tuner is connected directly to your PC?

Does your PC then have a second Ethernet port, which is connected to your LAN?

If that's what you did: That won't work.

The way you must do it is HDHR tuner and PC are each plugged into the LAN. Either via an Ethernet switch or, if it has enough LAN ports, your router. (N.B.: Many routers have notoriously poor built-in Ethernet switches. It's almost always better to use a separate Ethernet switch. Switch is plugged into the router, LAN devices are plugged into the switch.)

Yep - i guess thats why it was not working :frowning: Sadly my tv signal is very week (in the middle of the county) but looks like i can login remotely so plan to move the box and server to London and then stream the TV back - should work (i think)...

Thanks for the help,

Andy
