I'm finding when a stream drops the connection while it's playing on the Apple TV, the channels app never triggers the screen saver come on (which I have set to start at 5 mins) or for the ATV to go to sleep (which I have set at 15 mins). The server is showing that activity is Idle, so it's not pulling any data, but yet the app stays active on screen with the last image and 'Connection Lost' logo displaying.
This is becoming an issue for me as I like to go to sleep/take naps with the TV going, and I'm finding that when I wake up, be it 1hr or 6+ hrs later, the static image is on my screen. I'd rather not ruin my tv with unnecessary static imagery.
I understand there is a sleep option. It does not work for my habits.
Not sure if this is a bug or just a setting I haven't found, but if there is a way to resolve this please point me in the right direction. I have also submitted diagnostics should you need it.
