Apple TV Tuner not available

For the past week I am unable to watch any live TVE or Locast channels on the channels DVR app on the Apple TV. I get “Tuner not available” on all channels. I can stream normally on the iPhone app and the web app. If a program is being recorded, I can watch the recording in progress from the guide without problems. I recently had an HD HomeRun on the network when the problem was also occurring but I have deleted that from the DVR server and restarted it without any change.

Sometimes when I delete the channels DVR app and reinstall I can get a stream to work temporarily. I have submitted the logs via the Apple TV app.

Please Submit Diagnostic Logs from the app so we can see what’s going on.

Done. Logs were submitted via the Apple TV app.

I was reading another topic and saw the post about Eero and HomeKit. I am running Eero with HomeKit enabled, maybe this is the issue as well? To disable it, it says it will remove all my devices from the network so I would like to avoid that if possible.

DVR server is running on local DS218+

Please go to settings and select Connect to Channels DVR, select At Home, and then type in the IP address of your synology. We have improved this behavior in the latest tvOS TestFlight Beta to not require doing this.

It says a channels DVR server was not found.

It will say this every time then eventually connect.

I just tested this in the TestFlight version as well. Says channels DVR server was not found but then goes right to the guide screen like it has found the server.

If I click any program in the guide and set it to record, I can wait a few seconds then click watch recording and everything works fine. It seems the Apple TV app is having problems getting the live stream.

I just submitted a log from the beta version.

Did you enter 192.168.7.228?

Yes

It says not found but then the guide and all my recording load normally. Only problem is playing a live show from the guide.

This did start around the time eero got the HomeKit update but I can’t confirm the day this error started is the same day that update was applied.

That's probably the issue then. I don't have Eero so I can't comment on how to fix it. Your logs do show the same issue as the other on that other thread.

I’ll try turning off HomeKit support in Eero and let you know if that works. I imagine Eero is probably a common router among channels users?

Ok I disabled HomeKit in Eero and it works normally now.

From what I understand the HomeKit portion of the router controls what devices are allowed to access. The Devs can shed more light but you may have to remove/relax restrictions on both the DVR server and the Apple TV.
