AppleTV app crash during playback of live tv buffer behind current time

Hi,

I started to get crashes again during December watching live TV on the AppleTV Channels DVR app. This happens during playback of the live tv buffer behind the current time. How far behind current time and for how long the buffer must be played back for the crash to happen does not seem defined. By “the app crashes” I mean I am thrown back at the Apple TV Home Screen. I have experienced this with both the regular release and the beta. I believe I used the submit diagnostics the last time I got the crash with the beta, which was between dec. 28th and 30th.

Can I help provide more data for this issue to be fixed?

Is it only on a specific source?
i.e. OTA tuner channels, Cable tuner channels, TVE channels, M3U channels, Virtual channels.

Beta 12.31.208 just crashed while watching live tv at current time. I submitted diagnostics from the app’s Setting -> Support menu.

I only watch OTA channels from HDHomerun units

Does the app get stuck first before you are thrown back to Home Screen?

No; the playback simply abruptly stops and I am thrown back at the AppleTV Home Screen.

I did just enable the experimental deinterlacing option though, so I guess there is a chance that this latest crash has to do with that - I was watching a 1080i OTA channel.

Could be. I didn't see any crash reports from you in our main reporting system. I will check apples beta logs as well.

Which model Apple TV is it?

A1842 (64 GB) running tvOS 15.1.1 (19J581).

If you have precise directions on what I should do to submit proper diagnostic info, please let me know.

I would recommend upgrading to tvOS 15.2

I just encountered this as well. Both watching Live TV and then watching a virtual channel. First time I’ve ever encountered this. Just thrown back up the Apple TV main screen.
