Asus BE88U on sale

I want to get a new router. Right now I am using the att fiber modem with TP deco mesh system on access point mode. The asus model referenced above is on sale for $300. I’m debating between getting that router and bypassing the modem or getting a cloud gateway max from ubiquiti. I plan to wire my house for Ethernet connections.

What router recommendations do you have?

I’m tech-curious, so programming my own ps sense or something like that may be too complicated.

Your best bet is to stick with this router. The fiber gateway will not do true pass through and you are still stuck with att ip tables and will end up with a double nat. Save your money and the headache you could possibly create by putting a router behind a router. This advice is for the att fiber router only, other routers will do true bridge mode correctly and can benefit from a better router.

If you need better WiFi coverage I’d recommend getting a nice POE unifi switch and attach unifi access points to the switch and place the AP’s where needed.
