Whats the best way to watch ATSC3 on channels (that allows for the most drm to get through) - workarounds etc. I am reading SD is the best way to go and we might get deeplink access - but not dvr? Maybe cc4c or hdmi4c?
SD boxes work seamlessly with non-DRM ATSC3.
No other tuners have seemed to work using the normal Android controlling means.
DRM needs to die a fiery death on OTA.
Theoretically the HDHR should be able to just stream the raw bits to the DVR software to store on the hard drive and leave it up to the end point (the app that plays it on the TV or phone) to decrypt the information into something useable, right?
Has Channels tried to apply for a decryption certificate or whatever would be needed just to see what the A3SA would say? If rejected, I'd be interested to know what reason they give.
There's quite the extensive discussion and explanation of steps taken by SiliconDust and the ways they have been blocked and denied progress by the cable cartel.
My understanding is that there isn't a path forward for anything other than android devices when it comes to A3SA. Most likely A3SA would need to allow other forms of encryption than just google as Apple will probably have their own that they would want to use. Hopefully the FCC will just tell A3SA they can't encrypt and it would solve this nightmare.
A3SA is acting in their own best interests, not the American citizens that all own a part of the air waves. This, essentially, is the most recent showstopper problem for "Nextgen TV".
Go to Lon.tv's Youtube site and watch the playlist of Nextgen TV videos:
That's a playlist, you can skip to the next video with the >| button at the bottom of the video.
Here's hoping!
2 posts up, Lon's playlist, he just added important new info, time to tell the FCC what you think.
