ATSC 3.0 - NFL video lagging sound

I have one of the new HDHomeRun boxes that has two tuners for receiving the new NextGen TV signals and live in Central Florida where I can receive Orlando and Tampa channels.

For the most part the Next gen signals are great and I can watch all the networks with no problem. My antenna is bringing in strong signals. I watch it all on the Channels app running on one of my Apple TV’s.

I have noticed if watching NFL broadcasts on FOX that very quickly the video starts lagging behind the audio, to the point where it is unwatchable. Others shows on these channels do not seem to do this and it happens on both the Orlando and Tampa FoX stations. The broadcasts on CBS (also Next Gen feeds) do not have this problem. If I switch the FOX broadcasts to regular DT they play fine and the audio and video stay in synch.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is the HDHomeRun having trouble keeping up with the broadcast feed? Seems strange that it only happens on one network.

Any ideas?

What is regular DT?

ATSC1 (their regular digital broadcast channel) problem only appears on ATSC

You mean on ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV?

Does it happen on all your client devices?

Only noticed it on Channels running on Apple TV

Yes, sometimes with live content. Some local broadcast stations are not doing a very good job transcoding to hevc and ac4 on the fly. If you are experiencing this with prime time pre recorded shows try changing to hardware decoder on the client.

Which model Apple TV

Apple TV HD
tvOS 15.2

We have heard similar from other users of the old Apple TV. It works fine on the newer models.

Yes that was the problem. I switched it for the latest Apple TV model and it works fine now.
