Internet is required for ATSC 3.0 DRM support.
There are so many issues with ATSC 3.0, the above quote is near the top of the list, along with patent issues and the media cartels trying to lock down the citizen-owned air waves.

I got my hands on this device yesterday. I would avoid buying this at the moment. The drm channels wont playback on fire tvs for some reason. On top of that the drm channels get stuck on frame 1 with my android boxes I have granted they have an otg adapter. I dont have the $50 onn pro box to test the usb tuner out but I suspect it will work just fine on it along with the google tv streamer. Oh and your android box does need ac4 support otherwise it wont playback the audio on atsc 3.0
To be fair the usb tuner is working like intended its the app thats not.
