ATSC recordings understanding

I’m running a HDhomerun flex 4k tuner on my 3rd gen ATV. I receive 4 channels in HEVC. Will channels auto record these channels HEVC? ……..and is there any advantage of turning on toggle for experimental HEVC transcoding in the DVR client? Thanks in advance for your help.

All recordings are saved untouched. There is no processing that happens to them. Channels DVR Server simply pulls the stream from your tuner and writes it to disk.

The transcoder setting you're speaking of will switch to using HEVC rather than the default, h.264, when streaming in a lower quality setting than Original.
