ATV DVR BUG - Wrong channel recorded after 1 week

Not sure where to post this. I’m actually using the beta, but I don’t have permissions to post in that forum for some reason.

I have a pass set to record Good Morning America every morning. GMA is on channel 10.1 (an HD channel). It will work fine all week, and then on Saturday instead of channel 10.1, it records channel 2.3 (an SD channel) instead. I have to delete the pass and recreate it in order to get the correct channel to record, otherwise it will keep recording channel 2.3 every day.

It just started doing this a few weeks ago. At first I thought it was a glitch, but it has happened every Saturday for the last 2 or 3 weeks. So it is clearly a bug.

Edit your Pass in DVR -> Passes -> Advanced (drop-down box on the right) click on the “+” under Conditions (on the left), select Channel from the drop-down list, make sure the condition is “==” and enter 10.1 in the right-hand box. Click Save Rule and you’re done.

Thanks for this info! I went ahead and made these changes. I never even knew this Advanced menu exists. So my problem is fixed, but it still stands to reason that this is a bug that should be looked at…

Check the DVR web ui on the Log tab and paste the logs from Saturday morning where it recorded GMA

Here are the logs from this morning.

Not sure why it correctly records 10.1 yesterday, but 25.1 today. I’m also not sure why 25.1 was even included in the pass, as that is the incorrect channel.

The channel numbers come from the guide data. The guide data says it’s airing on 25.1 so that’s why the DVR is recording from that channel.

Are you saying GMA wasn’t on that channel at all? Or that it was an SD version? Earlier you said 2.3 but the logs show 25.1

Check the Guide tab of the DVR web UI for next Saturday and see if it shows GMA on 10.1 and 25.1 or not.

So, this is quite strange indeed. A few issues here:

  1. So the first thing is, Channel 25.1 is another ABC affiliate (from Palm Beach, while I am in Broward). The channel is local to me, but farther away than the 10.1 ABC affiliate. So 10.1 should have a stronger signal, and the preferred channel to record.

  2. I looked at next Saturday at 8am in the guide, and Good Morning America is not airing on 25.1 at that time. It is airing on 10.1, and 25.1 is airing a local news program, “WPBF 25 News Mornings”

  3. The reason I said it was recording 2.3 is because that is what is actually on the video itself. Even though the file name is labeled Good Morning America, when I view the program, it is a SD program and I can see “The Health Channel” in the corner of the screen. I looked in the guide, and The Health Channel is channel 2.3.
