Audio stops working after pause/play

Hi there,

Long time channels + HDHomerun user here.

I've had three occurrences lately (I guess since the 5.6.3 update) of Channels audio cutting out completely after an event that causes the stream to pause. The first time was using Siri on the ATV to control a Home device, after which no audio would play on Channels app, so I figured I just won't use ATV Siri any more while watching Channels. The next two times were simply pausing the stream and resuming which is a bit more of a problem.

The ATV audio at the time was fine, as I could still hear the UI sounds from the OS, but nothing at all from Channels. I've tried scrubbing through the stream, going briefly to the task switcher and back to the app, changing audio outputs, but none of these work. The only fix is to exit back to the home screen and return to the app - it doesn't even require a restart of the app for this.

The problem here is I lose all of my stream buffer by "fixing" the audio issue, which is mildly infuriating.

Has this been reported elsewhere? Any possible solution out there?

Channels: 5.6.3
tvOS: 16.5

Cheers.

You can try these:

  • in the player, swipe down, go to options, click on audio track to uncheck, click again to check it

  • in settings > playback > advanced change audio driver

Thanks - I'll try that next time this happens.

Just a follow up: This one works, although when I go into options, there's no audio track selected at all. Choosing one restores the audio again.

The most recent time this occurred was after a long pause (baby needed attention), with my Airpods connected on & off.

This happens infrequently so it's taken me a while to figure out how it's behaving.

Seems like a bug to have the audio track just turn off like that?
