Audio Sync Issues on Apple/Shield TV

I've noticed that randomly you get audio sync issues and even if the playback starts fine, after a while you start getting sync issues. This is both on apple tv and shield tv and doesn't matter if going through an avr first or not

If I switch to TV and watch the same channels and broadcast as what is playing through channels, there are no sync issues at all.

If you play the mpg file in VLC on your DVR PC, is the audio in sync?

I would have to record it and then playback on another pc as the dvr pc is a headless linux based system and the interface is only available via browser

also watching with the SD app there seems to be no audio issues either
