Authorization Code Issue

Sorry for all the questions of late. I was finally able to get the Channels app to open from directly within the QNAP after setting up port forwarding (why this is needed, I have no idea) but then after opening the app, it asks for an authorization code. I click the link to get the code, paste it, and then receive an unauthorized notification.

Any idea what might be going on here?

Thanks.

The authorization code is only required when you’re accessing your DVR through the internet. That’s what port-forwarding does, it makes that port available via the internet.

I would recommend turning on the “Remote Access” feature at the bottom of your DVR and then using http://my.channelsdvr.net to connect to your DVR. That’s basically what you’re trying to do now.

If you want to access your DVR on the local network instead, then use http://dvr-nas.local:8089

I have no idea what I’ve done but neither of those links are working for me.

And now that I’ve turned off the port forwarding, when I click the Channels app in the QNAP a browser tab opens saying that the server can’t be found.

Any clue at all what could possibly be going on?

What kind of computer/browser are you using?

Mac/Safari. Had the same issue in Chrome too.

How about http://nas.local does that go to your QNAP?

No luck. Some type of settings issue with the QNAP, maybe?

Could be.. check to see if the Network > Service Discovery > Bonjour options are enabled:

My "NAS Web" bonjour is enabled as tmm1-qnap, so that means I can access http://tmm1-qnap.local to get to my NAS.

OK so that worked to get in but still no luck on the dvr.

Okay so if you access your NAS on http://nas.local then you can access the DVR on http://nas.local:8089

Also if you open your NAS via http://nas.local then opening Channels DVR from there will automatically use your local IP too, and you won’t see any authorization page.

Cool!

So was the bonjour on your NAS turned off? How did you fix it?

It was on. Not sure what happened, I did turn FTP off though. That was the only thing that was different from your screenshot.

Thanks a lot for your help though. Really appreciate it.
