I noticed in my logs server did an auto update at an apparently random time. Is there any way to turn off auto update and force manual update only? Mac OS server. Thanks.
A new stable version was released that addresses different bugs. These builds are tested extensively by many people using the beta. The server updates automatically on these stable releases and installs at a time the server is idle to ensure recordings are not interrupted.
This is a good thing and ensures the masses are on the same release so people don’t report issues that were fixed some time ago. Why do you feel this is bad practice?
Thank you. Because it is a recurring maintenance task, and those functions or behaviors, even if cognizant of upcoming server taskologies, involves restart of services. That has apparently gone smoothly, but if the server admin (me) is away from server location physically (on vacation somewhere, say), and service has some hang on restart, well then, potentially a gnarled situation. I would expect some finer degree of control over this from such a fine product.
I've been running Channels DVR for years and have never had an update fail. If our reasurances don't release your concern then your best bet is to implement a VPN so that you can access hosts on your network remotely.
Thanks. I wasn't looking for reassurances; I was hoping this had been raised before, and it was either a known limitation in the UX, or if anyone knew how to simply disable this behavior. Appears not.
