Automatic Commercial Skip Setting not working

We've always used the 'Skip Button' setting which works fine (Settings>Playback>Commercial Skipping).

Decided to try the 'Automatic' setting, but it does not work - commercials are not skipped.

Is there some other setting that must be turned-off or on for this to work. Are we missing something?

Anyone besides us have this problem? Easy to test.

Nope, I have the default set to skip button but I go into individual shows or events that skip correctly and set it to automatic and it works fine.
