Ear detection will pause when removing one ear, but doesn't resume when placed back over the ear. I verified it will resume on my ipod pro so appears to be associated with the IOS app running on the M1 MacOS.
This is likely an issue with the system and Apple's work getting iPad apps working on macOS. This feature is not something we actively control or do anything with, the system handles it all.
Additionally, we don't target the iPad app to work with macOS on M1 computers, it just happens to work. That's just how this "iPad apps on macOS" stuff works.
