Automatic marking as watched not working for padded shows

The topic says it all. I tend to add a minute’s padding to the end of a show. Unfortunately, this means if I stop when the show stops it doesn’t mark it as watched. Is there a specific rule as to when it is automatically marked as such? I’m thinking either the rule should be modified to take into account the recorded padding.

Good catch!

Ha! We had just talked about how this might be a problem tonight. Thanks!

Spooky. Perhaps one of you is using my transcode script and I’ve placed a listener in there?

If I could add to this… It’s a bit more than padding that you might be able to account for. Our use case, which I assume is pretty typical, is to watch a show until the content ends. However, the end of content doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the recording. For example ending credits and the next commercial.

For me, I would like to see a recording marked as watched when 95+% of the recording has been viewed. Maybe 95 isn’t the right number but hopefully you get the idea.

This annoys me. A percentage of a half hour, 1 hour and 3 hours are too different.
I already have this problem with Hulu. I’m watching the show, and who knows, babies cry, wife crys, kids fight, and after the proble is solved, Hulu is restarting the episode from the beginning because it thinks I watched enough.

This is also why I don’t use/trust the up next function of Netflix or the DVR at all. Ever. I don’t see the status of the previous episodes, so I stay in the shows view so I can see the green bars on all the episodes.

Here is an idea, when one clicks to Leland an episode, prompt “done?”

This automatic watched logic has been fixed in DVR v2017.01.23.2004 to take padding into account.
