I have HdHomerun connected to antenna and feeding Channels DVR. Every local channel is fine except NBC which records pixelated and wrong audio.
When I watch NBC through HD Homerun ilive t is fine.
When I watch NBC through Channels DVR live it is fine.
But when I record NBC it is pixelated and unwatchable????
And its ONLY NBC - every other channel is fine.
I cannot fathom what's wrong. This is the second week this is occurring.
Does anyone have any ideas?
If it's actually recording the same exact NBC channel from your HDHR then I would think it's what you recorded at that time of day.
Is it EVERY recording from the channel?
If so, watch it while it's recording. Could be the station or signal reception.
Signal is fine when I watch live.
It only breaks up on recording. That's what has me baffled.
Every thing checks fine. I rescanned the channels and reconnected the HD Homerun.
Don't know what else to do.
So you watch at the same time using the web UI or a Channels client while you're recording with Channels DVR and watching live is fine, but the recording is messed up. Is that a correct statement?
Chances are a network issue between the tuner and the DVR. By default live streams go from the tuner to the client bypassing the DVR.
Are you sure you have the correct NBC channel setup in your pass. Where I live I can get NBC from three different channels, two are low powered repeaters. If I don’t specify the main feed then channels will pick the lowest channel first which are flakey reception.
Yeah +1 for that. I had to block those channels on my hdhr becuase each station had like 1 translator that was low power.
It definitely seems to be a problem with Channels - when I attempt to watch and record NBC at the same time the app locks up and the only way to recover is to reboot the Shield.
Yes it's OTA from antenna. Watching live is pristine.

Not to sidetrack the issue, but are you using the same shield as the dvr?

First, yes the Channels app and the Channels DVR reside on the same Shield (with external storage).
I found during troubleshooting:
If I am already watching NBC live and then record that same show it works fine (and the recording looks fine).
But if the same NBC show is already recording and I try to watch it live (Through Channels) - the app locks up and the only way to recover is to reboot the Shield!
Now I am more at loss than before.
UPDATE
After updating the HDhomerun firmware, rescanning all the channels and assigning a static (reserved IP) and of course rebooting numerous times the problem still existed. I then updated the Channels to a beta version, assigned it a reserved IP , rescanned the channels from the HDHR and rebooted about a dozen times, the issue now seems to be resolved.
I was able to record a half dozen NBC shows which now look fine on playback.
Not sure which of the above finally fixed it but I believe it was some weird interaction between HDHR and Channels and mayybe the Shield. Who knows???
