Sorry if this question has been asked before - I did search but couldn't find anything.
I currently run the DVR on an ageing MacBook Pro and want to move it to a dedicated PC running Linux.
Is there a preferred distro for this, or will any do?

I prefer Ubuntu but anything should work
I'm personally partial to Arch, but that's not really a district geared towards new Linux users. For easier distributions, I would recommend Ubuntu or a derivative like Mint, or possibly Fedora.
In any case, Linux distros tend to be a rather personal matter to many users. All have their advantages and disadvantages. You may want to be a bit more specific about your particular needs to get a better answer.
