I just purchased a new external hard drive and would like to move just my video library to it, however I’ll be keeping my recordings on the existing drive. Is there an easy way to move an existing video library without messing up all of my virtual channels pointing to this content?
Are you talking about Local Content or something else?
Yes, DVD collection, videos, etc. I’m just trying to avoid having to re-select all of the existing content for my virtual channels, if possible.
The easiest way would be to name the new drive the same as the old (after you move content over and detach old drive), so the videos are all in the same place
Unfortunately, I’m moving from a NAS to a locally attached drive, so that isn’t an option in this case…
Someone confirm this for me but I believe you can specify an additional storage path for imports and then move the content and channels will just deal.
I know this works for an additional DVR directory as I have a script that takes anything that is older than 5months on the SSD and moves it to a HDD. What I don't know if the import dir works the same way.
If you are using the Imports/ directory in the main DVR path, then it works this way. However, if you have manually defined other paths to specific locations, then they need to be re-scanned.
I went ahead and re-created them, no big deal only took about 10 minutes. Thanks for all the help and suggestions everyone!
