BETA: Chrome Capture for Channels

Thank You

Version 116.0.5845.97 (Official Build) (64-bit) appears to be a working version of Chrome. The original version, 114.0.5735.90, starting acting up yesterday despite updating turned off. I uninstalled it and reinstalled the latest version. I will test this for a few days. As of this morning, Spectrum appears perfect including pause and rewind. NBC still has pauses and freezes.

Thanks for the heads up. My main PC just updated to v116, so I can run CC4C on it, and give it a try.

EDIT: So far so good. I watched a show, and recorded it for 30 mins. Fubo as the stream source. No issues, playback was smooth. FF/pause/rewind all good, although, I have never seen that particular issue previously.

Suddenly Chrome Capture has stopped working for me. I should say that the NBC channels still work fine however I had some direct links I was using for Spectrum and now when the window launches it is just a white screen. My Chrome has updated to the most recent version.

Here is how I have link loaded which was working fine up until today. If I put that direct link in my browser it still works and takes me to the channel I want.

#EXTM3U

#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="NFL Network",NFL Network
chrome://localhost:5589/stream?url=https://watch.spectrum.net/livetv?tmsid=45399

I get that when chanels dvr can't communicate with Chrome Capture for Channels, I just restart both and it takes of again.

BTW, all I'm using is watch.spectrum.net's direct links and I'm having no issue currently

Yep, I restarted Channels and the capture and it fixed it for some of my direct links but NFL Network and one other channel is a white screen. I restarted the computer and still the same thing for the two channels.

Just as a point of reference, Chrome on my M1 Mac updated to version 116.0.5845.96 and now CC4C is working properly again on my Channels client, including pause and rewind.

You can still watch NFL, ESPN...etc via Channels TVE. However it is now 1280 X 720 at 4 Mbps dynamic. It looks OK since AppleTV scales it up to 1920x1080. I am also seeing this on other channels. I checked with my daughter's provider and it is the same. So I am guessing all TVE will eventually be at this resolution. Other folks may know more.

I just recently moved the NFL Network from a TVE source, to CC4C. It was actually down around 1.8 Mbps @ 720p during a game, which was unwatchable.

I updated to Chrome 116+ in Windows and am also seeing no issues in limited testing. I'll update the simplified instructions to say to just avoid v115.

I had to rename 2 googleupdate.exe files to finally kill auto updates

Good to know but just in case you missed it, Chrome 116 works again, it was only 115 that didn't.

But who knows when the next Chrome update is going to break it again? That's why you don't want it to update if it works, given that you're only using Chrome for this.

Sure, but it still seems wise to do that after upgrading to 16, not 14, that’s all.

So it seems like the Fox channels are going away via TVE or are having major issues Ive now lost Fox Business and local Fox4 here in NYC area Fox News was out but now back.

Any idea how we can watch these via the CC4C system?? i was able to watch them from the Chrome browser on my Channels PC??

Nope, you cannot. If you've lost Fox you lost Fox there's no other way to watch it.

@hofs1, who is your streaming provider? Depending the provider, you can add links to other channels. I've added Bally Sports, Smithsonian, etc that don't have TVE support. Some channels, that never had TVE support. I have Fubo and it's easy to add the url from the Fubo interface.

I can use Optimum or Fios to login to the websites to watch live etc.... I'll play when I get home tonight tomorow.

Might tell my kid to yell at the engineers in the Fox News Control Rooms.....lol yup she works there.

If there is a website to watch, with those providers, and the channel url is fixed. Then it could be possible. CC4C works great with Fubo. Any channel they offer, can be added to Channels with CC4C. From babsonnexus' simplified instructions:

No, they work perfectly fine with cable vision and fios in the nyc area. They’ve always worked, never had an issue.
