BETA: Chrome Capture for Channels

They all seem ok now BUT last night and this morning No Fox5 No Fox Business Last night No Fox News But this morn Fox News started working

Was getting weird messages about time out and 404 failures In fact when i refreshed the Channel list on the Server the channels were removed from the TVE list
I just refreshed now and they have been added back in BUT very odd

It's possible there were some TVE issues with your provider, that have cleared. Are you running the latest pre-release server software?

its possible BUT same issue using either a Fios TV login or Optimum login
All has been fine since Just hoping its not related to some Fox prepping to stop TVE etc.

@babsonnexus How is this working for you? I too started having issues on 114 and figure try 116. I still get issues with the video freezing after a few second to minutes, but audio continues to play. After 5-10minutes the video unfreezes and rest of playback/recording seems fine. If watching live, just stop watching and restart and that seems to be fine; but this will be an issue if recording as the picture will be frozen.

Last week I helped a friend get CC4C setup. He's using his Xfinity credentials to stream from the NBC site. He has experienced the same video freezing issue, and is on Chrome 116. I'm using Fubo as my source, and have never seen this freezing issue.

Is there a way to get the local guide data for NBC stations. When I add the NBC logo, the guide data that is being displayed is only for East Coast Network broadcast. When the affiliate shows local programming, the guide data says sign off.

#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="NBC Local",NBC Local (WSMV)
chrome://localhost:5589/stream?url=https://www.nbc.com/live?brand=nbc&callsign=wsmv

You probably want:

#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="NBC Local" tvc-guide-stationid="32685",NBC Local (WSMV)
chrome://localhost:5589/stream?url=https://www.nbc.com/live?brand=nbc&callsign=wsmv

Thank you @bnhf, I am able to get local guide data now. How did you find the station id?

http://localhost:8089/tms/stations/"WSMV"

Will query Channels DVR for that particular station. "localhost" can be replaced with the hostname or IP of your Channels DVR server.

I haven't used it a lot, but my performance has been relatively the same no matter the version of Chrome (excluding 115). However, I have never had the issues you are describing, just occasional hiccups in the video.

@babsonnexus, with 114, the video hiccups were all I was getting as well. When those turned into frozen video(similar to 115 for me), I saw all the 116 discussion and updated but same issue.

FWIW I've always used Zap2It.com. I first find the channel in question, then I look at the underlying URL that serves up its logo. WSMV's is here:

https://zap2it.tmsimg.com/h3/NowShowing/32685/s28717_ll_h15_ad.png?w=55

The station ID is that bolded number. But I like your tip better! Thanks

Just wondering if this video freeze issue is something people are seeing only with NBC as the stream source? Or, have others seen it using YTTV, Spectrum, Hulu, Fubo, etc? As I mentioned above, I have not seen it with Fubo as the source, but did early on using NBC as the source.

I'm using Spectrum as the source and I haven't noticed any freezes.

I see it on some NBC channels. Spectrum is perfect.

I had this for USA as example:
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="USA" ,USA
chrome://localhost:5589/stream?url=https://www.usanetwork.com/live?brand=usa&callsign=usa_east
Is this an "NBC" Source you are referring to?

I must have missed the memo and see this format. Is this the format that I should be using:
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="USA (East)",USA (East)
chrome://localhost:5589/stream/usa

Should I be using the later and how do I know what stream "short code" is available? Thanks.

I was referring to the NBC links built into CC4C. I hadn't considered there were separate url's for some of the NBC stations. Like your usanetwork.com example. Did you ever see the video freeze when using that USA source url?

Here are the "short code" links coded into CC4C. They are also shown on babsonnexus' simplified instructions.

See "Simplified Installation Instructions" above, specifically Step 3, Number Bullet 3.

Thanks for the list @sheepy. I changed over to the short codes and same issue. I am suspecting if the stream starts buffering, that is when it shudders and video will pause. Seems I can recreate this by running a second stream from different TV. One of the streams will end up with a frozen video. I did a few recording overnight and frozen video with audio in the background for over 10minutes and video will recover. I'll do more test on a different PC and see if I have any changes to rule out hardware. Thanks.
