Beta: tvOS & iOS Intro and Credits detection

Thanks. I figured I missed a setting somewhere.

Only scanned the Simpsons and Futurama for a quick test so far.

Worked really well on Futurama.

The Simpsons seems hit and miss, though would probably be a tough one as even mid season it can change from a short intro to a long intro - probably depending on the run time of the episode.

So far though, very comparable to the detection of Plex and a very nice addition.

Will try a couple more shows tonight.

Side note/suggestion: with auto skip (intro/commercial) could there be any option or a change in how ‘auto’ works to have a count down or a sliding timer like infuse/Plex to enable you to ‘opt-out’ of the skip?
This could be useful if say your kids wanted to watch an intro for the theme song or in the case of commercials - the commercial wasn’t yet verified and it was a false reading?

Could possibly have:

  • Auto
  • Auto w/ Button/Timer
  • Button
  • Manual

In any case, great addition and very pleased it’s been added.

Edit: I suppose the per show setting makes my suggestion redundant. If it’s a show you may want to watch the intro(kids), leave it as a button. If it’s a show you’re not wanting to watch the intro, leave it as auto.

Having some issues with one of my kids shows.

Tried to detect segments and never got any segments. So tried to delete all segments and now I just get an error in the logs that the files size is less than 4 bytes.

Very excited about this. This was the last feature keeping me on Plex occasionally. Channels team: y’all rock :metal:

We've found that sometimes the detection will detect recurring segments that aren't actually Intros or Credits. You can now categorize them with the new Fix Detections tab. Just make the changes you need and hit Save.

Once you save, the show will immediately be reprocessed.

Let us know the results of anything guys correct. We’d love to hear if this is helping!

I am seeing an issue with Intro skip and credit skip not always working consistently on two shows that I am watching. One is Black Sails and one is Masters Of The Air. When looking at the view segments section, I see that there are images that look like they are the intro and images that look like they are the credits but sometimes the skip button will pop up and sometimes it doesn't. So far I haven't noticed the Next Episode button pop up at any time on Black Sails. The Next Episode button does pop up at the very end of the episode like it used to.

EDIT: So far, it seems to just be happening now with the Black Sails series for end credits only. Skip Intro does seem to be working on the last 3 episodes I tested. Masters Of The Air seems to be working fine on both Intro Skip and Credits detection so far on 4 episodes.

Can't get the intro/credits detector to see anything on TV show Tulsa King. Logs just say nothing to detect. There is an intro in the show though.

Haven't been able to get detection to work on my server, running Raspbian. Logs show same error each time: "[ERR] Could not write MFCC for file-____: ffmpeg failed: exit status 1"

We've now improved some of the process:

Deep Video Processing

The setting has moved to Settings -> General -> Library Database. It is now enabled by default, but if you previously had disabled "Pre-Optimize Personal Media" you will need to enable "Deep Video Processing" to get support for Intro & Credit detection.

Opt a show In

Now, to opt a show in, select "Show Options"

Note: If you previously opted a show in to segment detection, you'll need to turn it back on for that show after this change.

CleanShot 2025-10-15 at 22.29.32@2x

and then enable "Detect Intros & Credits":

I am not getting any detected credits for Marvel Zombies. There is a pretty long credit sequence at the end.

Two other shows I just added to Channels scanned and worked fine for intro and credits.

I downloaded the debug log but I can't figure out how to upload or attach it to this post.

:point_up_2:

Oops. Sorry I missed that.

I notice that on Apple TV (haven't tested on the other devices) that if the skip intro or credit detect button goes away before I can hit it i can't get it back. On Plex and Emby if you bring up the timeline again the skip button comes back.

I have a couple of times accidently hit the back button when trying to skip the credits and go to the next episode. Then there is no way to get the button to come back.

yes, this is by design. It won't just keep showing the skip button every time you're inside an Intro. This would be obnoxious.

We have future plans on improving the timeline to allow for actionable items like you described, but right now there's no opportunity to add things like that.

Ok cool. Yeah, would be nice to get it back. Sometimes my finger hits the wrong button and I accidentally get rid of it. lol

Guess I need to get better at that.

Ok, we're all wrapped up. Channels 7.0 is shipped out. Even though this feature only shipped in preview mode, we're going to close this original thread down.

Thanks for the feedback on this feature. Please open any new issues on this topic in a normal thread.
