Beta: tvOS & iPad Multiview

Wasn't sure if this version was supposed to fix the issue or not. But still having same issue of Multiview freezing. Also the sources are Pluto for Channels and Tubi for Channels.

-IMPROVED: PIP closing when Multiview starts

Yes, that was an attempt to resolve it.

For what it's worth, we don't consider those TVE (Pluto for Channels and Tubi for Channels) channels, and you should refer to them as Custom Channels. They are coming from third party sources and not provided by Channels.

Gotcha. I thought that after I sent my original post about TVE. Thanks for clarifying.

The "roomy spacing" feature appears to make the screens smaller.
For what purpose would I want to engage this feature?

Thank you for your time and consideration

It’s just a more tvOS design presentation that fits more in with the platform.

It’s not a big deal.

OK, thank you

my only experience with them is via my iPad's

No way to display CC on active selected screen? Didn’t see anywhere if this is a option.

would be cool to have CC on the NON-active screens, listen to one, and be able to read on the others

Dream multiview CC options:
off
on for all
on for active only
on for inactive only

Game 1 of the Dodgers in the World Series, and in the meantime, there's a high-speed police chase on the 101 that the other locals are covering. Such an L.A. moment. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Thanks again, Channels devs for multiview!

Did something change with this recently? It has been awhile since i used it, but it worked fine to watch multiple star trek channels i have from Pluto tv, but now, it only will play one of the channels, the last one i open. If i add any more, it causes the previous channel to freeze.

Also, the white border around the active channel is quite annoying.

EDIT: looks like no matter what channels i add, from multi sources, does this now. So only one channel will play in multi view. The others are frozen. So this feature is essential broken for me.

I did send diags from server and app.

Edit: a reboot of the Apple TV seems to have resolved this

Hmm, not sure why it's not working for you, still testing here and it's working fine.

There's a setting to disable that now: "Persist Focus Indicator." With it off, the white border fades away quickly.

Ah thanks for that reminder of that setting

Rebooted Apple TV and now multi view is working correctly. Weird. It gues it was just a ATV glitch thing.

I'm still seeing the 3 "loading" dots stay on screen most of the time despite smooth playback, should I submit logs for this?

Same issue here. Happened on Sunday when I tried multiview for football and is still happening now. On Wi-Fi on an Apple TV 4K, smooth playback, no way to get rid of the loading dots on the additional feeds.

I’m having the same issue too (weirdly it’s only on one of my two AppleTV 4Ks). However, the earlier suggestion of rebooting seems to be reliably fixing it for me (error seems reoccur daily). My current workflow is start the app and try to watch a couple programs, observe the three dots, reboot from the settings menu, reopen channels and the multiview works.

We'll look into that soon, promise guys. I'm willing to bet it's 100% happening on your IPTV channels though.

Ok, we're all wrapped up. Channels 7.0 is shipped out. Thanks for the feedback on this feature. Please open any new issues on this topic in a normal thread.
