BillFixers feedback

For folks interested in the whole saving money bit (because that's why everyone is here, right?), I thought I would share my most recent experience using the BillFixers.com service to dramatically lower my Spectrum bill. Full disclosure: I am not a shill or employee of BillFixers; I have used their service twice now with Spectrum with impressive results.

I first tried the service in February of 2017, back when I still had cable TV and digital phone service along with my internet through Spectrum. At that time, they couldn't get me any better deal than what I had. Oh well, there was no cost for having them try.

Fast forward to December of 2020, and I had them try again. By this point I was fully invested in Channels and had dropped my cable TV and digital phone services, keeping Spectrum around only for internet service. They did their thing and got me another $10 off my internet per month, for 12 months. So my $75/month internet bill became $65. You pay BillFixers by splitting the discount with them. So I owed them $60 total for my $120 discount spread over a year. I elected to pay them the $60 all up front and was satisfied that I was still coming out $5/month ahead with virtually zero effort on my part.

Wait for it...

Come February 2022, my discount was about to expire, so I figured this may be a good time to attempt an upgrade to my internet service as well. Spectrum is still the best deal in the area where I live, without any decent fiber choices yet. I was really in the market for a better upload speed, as my then current 200/10 download/upload speeds (real world speeds of 230/11) were just not cutting it for decent lag-free remote DVR viewing. I reached out to BillFixers again and asked them if they could get me the next tier up on my internet speed, advertised by Spectrum as 400/20.

A couple of days later I had my answer. They were indeed successful! Not only did they get me a deal on the next tier up on speed (Spectrum Internet Ultra), my bill actually went DOWN by $15/month for the internet portion. Say whaaaaaaat?

Since my latest negotiation handled by BillFixers, I had inadvertently (too long of a story to explain here) picked up Spectrum's "TV Essentials" package of streaming only cable channels. It interfaces wells with Channels, and had everything my Philo subscription did, so I opted to keep Spectrum TV Essentials and drop Philo.

But, for straight up comparison of just the internet only portion of my bill - once the new price negotiated by BillFixers went into effect, my monthly internet price is now $50/month, AFTER the speed increase! I was very impressed that they were able to pull this off. With the receipt of my latest Spectrum bill, the discounts are confirmed. The "regular" price in my area for Spectrum Internet Ultra is $95/month! So for the next year I am getting $25 off the top, and then another $20/month discount on top of that that is listed as a separate line item discount on my bill. And this 2nd $20/month discount is showing on my bill as good for the next THREE years.

But, the even better part is, BillFixers only calculates the split cost with you based on what your previous discount WAS, not what the total discount off of the full retail price is. So my split with them is $7.50/month, as the total internet portion of my bill is $15 lower than what it was just prior to this latest negotiation.

All in all, I'd say that is a pretty darn solid deal. I will absolutely have them "re-negotiate" again on my behalf in another year. Of course I tried to do it on my own before enlisting their help again last month, and Spectrum basically told me to pound sand. So I'm not sure exactly what kind of black magic they use, but it works for me!

Not necessarily:

BillFixers.com sounds interesting though. Thanks for sharing!
