Bitrate display does not match router

Monitoring the bandwidth passing through my router while watching any channel is not matching what the STATS shows on screen. For example when watching Science Channel the on screen stats says the bitrate is about 5600kbps, but at the same time watching the incoming bandwidth passing thru my router WAN port I see 12800 kbps.

Am I missing something here?

Your router could be downloading other things at the same time.

Also the way http live streaming works the video is downloaded in 5-10s chunks so you would see spikes of up to 5600*10 at any given time.

No other devices pulling data. What I am trying to figure out is if the TVE version of streams are better than watching them direct on the YTTV app. It's hard to do a side by side as switching apps takes too long, and brain memory of picture details is not that precise. So I figured the bandwidth passing thru my router would be a good test.

Plus I am confused by the data rate at the top of the screen that is in Kib? Is that the stream rate or something else?
