I jinxed myself by telling the wife the new setup seemed to be going well. I don't want to go into all the details, but my question is if you have a static IP address for the server, does the Bonjour service need to be used with Window 11? Prior answers here indicated no, but they were several years old, older than Windows 11.

If you do not use Bonjour then any Client that is connecting to a DVR for the first time ... You will have to enter the IP address ... after that it will remember it. Bonjour is used to dynamically discover the DVR server.
I guess I've never gotten the benefit of that. With My Tivo Google TV device and Fire Cube I've always had to enter the IP address the first time.
Thanks!
The Bonjour port is probably blocked... not sure what that is maybe support can chime in.
Doesn't really matter--if I can get by without it I'd rather not have it on my system.
I think Windows 11 was having a hard time with the network adapter I was using.
