Buffer full during record

I'm seeing the following when recording. It's causing playback issues. HDHomeRun and Mac (DVR) are all hardwired. Ideas?

This indicates that the hard drive is not able to keep up with the video data stream.

Weird. I have an SSD. This seems to have just started recently. I’m rebooting the Mac and I’ll see how it goes. I love channels but it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been able to get any recordings that work without stuttering. I’ve gone back to YouTube TV until I can get Channels and HdHomeRun Premium working well.

Could also be due to cpu starvation, but usually is from disk starvation. You could check Activity Monitor's cpu and disk metrics, and run some performance and health checks on your SSD

I use to run the DVR on my NAS device. It worked well but no transcoding. So I moved to Mac. Would I be better pointing to the NAS for storage (hardwired) or sticking with the local SSD? Is there a way to migrate the files to a new location?

You could try writing to the NAS. I don't usually recommend network drives but if it is hardwired it might be fine.

You can simply move all the files over and then change the DVR path setting (uncheck DVR checkbox, update path, check box again).

Thanks. I’ll let ya know what I find out. You guys are the main reason I’m sticking with Channels. You’re so responsive.

I moved the storage to my NAS and things got considerably worse. I couldn't watch anything (even live). There were no errors in the logs. Things recorded ok, they just weren't playing back. Then I came across this article.

This seems to have fixed EVERYTHING for me. The DVR on the Apple TV is working better than it ever has. I'm hoping it's not just a coincidence, but this definitely seems better.

Interesting, that's good to know. I ended up retiring my AirPort Extreme last year because it became very unreliable. Maybe this would have helped me as well.
