I get a lot of buffering expecially in the evening. I checked my download speed and its fine. I don't know what information to include or were to find the information, so any input would be helpful.

What hardware are you using? I had that issue constantly with my Nvidia Shield. Switched to apple TV and problem was solved.
To start, what client are you watching on? How is it connected to the network? What device is hosting your DVR server? How is it connected to the network? Any errors in the DVR web UI log when the issue occurs?
