(BUG) Away from home streaming breaks external subtitles

Hello,

I have imported some TV shows and they're named like so:

01x01.mp4
01x01.srt

On my iPhone I am able to see the subtitles when playing the show. But on my Amazon FireStick, subtitles do not show up and there's no option to select them.

I noticed in the 2021 thread that external subtitles were limited to Apple TV, is this still the case? If so then I need to remux all the videos don't I?

They work on my android phone. Not sure on firesticks, I've thrown all of mine away...

This is actually a bug with remote streaming.

Am able to play subtitles when using WiFi (LAN) but if I switch to 5G then the subtitles don't work (playing remote)

This is why subtitles aren't working on my Dad's FireStick, as he doesn't live with me // isn't on my Lan and is playing remotely.

What is the best way to report this bug?

For now I'm just going to recode the mp4 files with the subtitles embedded.

I've just written a CMD command which uses ffmpeg to do this assuming it is an MP4 and has a identically named srt file.

The command: for /r %i in (*.mp4) do ffmpeg -i "%~dnpi".mp4 -i "%~dnpi".srt -c copy -c:s mov_text "%~dnpi"_new.mp4

You run this in the show's root directory. For example Grey's Anatomy and it will then go through all the subfolders (Season 1, Season 2.. etc) and add the subtitles. Once done you need to delete all the videos that aren't called _new as well as the .srt files.
